The Summit County Department of Job and Family Services will operate a TANF Summer Youth Employment program once again for the 2015 season.
Program providers will include Akron Urban League (AUL), Jobs for Ohio’s Graduates (JOG), and the Youth Employment for Success (YES) program. We anticipate that over 1,200 youth between ages 16-24 will be matched with job opportunities in this year’s program. Last year, there were nearly 300 work sites across the county and the goal is to match if not exceed that number of sites employing youth this year.
Our job readiness classes for the 2014 program were a success and will be returning for this year with a re-vamped curriculum. Youth will learn about “soft skills” essential to a quality work experience that are critical to attaining and keeping a job. Additionally, each youth will be registered on OhioMeansJobs.com to create or renew their job seeker profiles.
