OhioMeansJob Center to Suspend Public Access; Public Should Apply for Unemployment Online or Over Phone

Effective Wednesday, March 18, 2020, the OhioMeansJobs Center located at 1040 E. Tallmadge Ave in Akron will temporarily suspend access to the public. This suspension includes the Resource Room. Summit County residents must apply for unemployment benefits over the phone or online. This requirement was in place prior to the suspension of public access.

To apply for benefits, residents can apply online at www.unemployment.ohio.gov or call 1-877-644-6562 or TTY 1-614-387-8408 (excluding holidays) 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Due to the COVID-19 situation, long wait times are common for those choosing to call. Please consider applying online if possible. The requirement to come into an OhioMeansJobs Center to begin a job search once a claim is filed is being suspended until further notice by the State.
